Friday night. Backyard movies. Short films and the Marx Brother’s Duck Soup. Wonderful. I am thankful for nights like that. Thankful to be in Seattle.

Thank You.
I wonder what instrument the kid on the right plays.
I am not sure what it is, but I really like this photo.
My favorite part about this photo is that the girl in the front middle it STILL shoving her hand into the younger girls face! Priceless.
The Billy Bragg Breakfast Burrito. so good
Another week has passed. It has been about 7 months since I moved up here. Whoa. I can’t believe that much time has passed. It doesn’t feel like I have been here that long, but then again a lot has happened, so I suppose it makes sense.
It may be true that Conor Oberst is a good great song writer, but it still doesn’t change the fact that admitting that you listen to him still feels weird. Needless to say, Hard To Find a Friend has posted some information about his new band and new music in the works. Plus he is going on a World tour. Here is the link to read more. Plus the song that is posted from his new project is pretty good.
I have already watched 2 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy Season 2 since I got home from work. Also, I finished watching Be Kind Rewind. That movie meet and exceeded my expectations. Spike Jonze is a genius. No one can make things from the deep imagination come to life in the most unexpected ways like he can.
I completed something the other day that I had been wanting to do for some time now. I used the sewing machine to make a rectangular zipper pouch. I did it without instructions and just kinda sat there and thought about it logically as I went along. It came out pretty good. The sewing would have been easier if I had used a zipper foot thing for the machine, and if I was better and making the fabric slide straight underneath the needle, but it is finished and it works! Mission accomplished.
The new Shearwater album is amazing. It will for sure be on my top ten list for this year. Yours?
I have been thinking about my art site, imafraidofeverything.com, and I realized I have not been giving it attention. I want to do redo it and start attempting to draw more. I think that site will be a good outlet.
I’m glad I brought my handkerchief to work today.
I should probably eat something.
Omar is awesome.
Not exactly sure why they took this photo. Why are they outside with all those flowers? Are they behind their house? Is one of them sick? It doesn’t look like they are smiling. The mystery of these photos is part of their charm.
Another installment in the Found Photo postings.
Jesse and I found these rad hybrid stuft animals at Fremont Market during our scooter tour last Saturday.
If you are trying to gain weight goto Beth’s again and eat the 12 egg omelette a few times a week.
My friend Mary was asking me what Wholphin was the other day, so I decided to write a quick blog about what it is to let everyone know how amazing it is.
What is Wholphin?
Wholphin is a new quarterly DVD magazine from McSweeney’s, lovingly encoded with unique and ponderable films designed to make you feel the way we felt when we learned that dolphins and whales sometimes, you know, do it.
Available immediately by subscription and distributed quarterly in the same places you’ll find McSweeney’s and The Believer, each issue of Wholphin will contain a variety of extraordinary short films, docs, instructional videos, foreign sitcoms, and other cinema hybrids that deserve to be seen on very expensive televisions.
(Taken from the official website)
There are now 5 issues out for sale. I have all 5 and they are all equally good.
Issue 1 has a really good documentary by Spike Jonze about Al Gore. After watching this I almost fell in love with him. There is also a short by Miranda July called, “Are You the Favorite Person of Anybody”. Another part has a guy singing Stairway to Heaven backwards!
I was going to list my favorite things from each issue, but really I like everything on each DVD. I would highly recommend you buy at least one of them. You can check that link up there and see what is on each issue so far. The short films are so great. You would be surprised to see how many good actors partake in this series. Plus they take sitcoms from other countries and writers from the Daily Show add funny subtitles that are nonsense and awesome. I showed some of my friends this before and some of them didn’t really understand some of the videos, but you just have to take each video and enjoy it for what it is. Artistic, random, funny, serious there are all sorts of great videos to watch. But if you only rent from Blockbuster Video and you have never seen a short film, this might be a little over your head. BUT you never know!! Goto the website and check out the videos they have to watch online, and this might be the turning point in your view of short films or things of that nature. They might be your new favorite thing! At least I hope.
The main reason I like Wholphin is that it gives me something to enjoy and look forward to in this world of not-worth-watching-hollywood-lame movies, for the most part. Take a chance with something different and highly entertaining for all the right reasons.
ps. Issue 5 has a documentary about people that solve rubik’s cubes blindfolded!! And some with one hand! I mean come on! How can you pass THAT up!
pps. There is nothing wrong with only renting movies from Blockbuster, it is just not for me. Netflix all the way.
Jesse and I went out on his scooters yesterday. It was soo great. We rode for about 3 1/2 hours total. From West Seattle to Burien to West Seattle to Fremont. Across bridges, streets, some of downtown, and neighborhoods. I think we will go again soon. Thankfuly the weather was pretty good yesterday. I think it is supposed to rain most of this week. It is weird that I am getting used to being rained on. Back in California rain would make me run into my car or not want to walk to the store. But now that I haved lived here for 6 months, walking to the store or getting some coffee down the street in the rain, is normal. Sometimes I forget it is raining. 6 months! I can’t believe it has gone by so fast!
I think Jesse, Pony, and I are going to start a 90’s indie rock band. Did you know that Pony? I think I forgot to tell you. I think we are going to do a Four Minute Mile cover.
Back to work!

This is an old photo found at a flea market near our house in Seattle. Must have been around Thanksgiving time. Not sure exactly when this photo is from, but I would guess the 70’s. I wonder if this is a photo taken by a pro for the school or just a parent. Because the kids aren’t centered in the photograph.
Walking over to pick up Krista from work
“I used to run a theatre back on the east coast, but since I moved out here I have no use for all this stuff. I have probably 50 different kinds of costumes, mostly clown related, though I do have some others. I do not have regular access to email, so please call me. My number is *** *** ****, ask for William.
Please take these off my hands, they only make me wish I still was involved back east.”
If you looked at the free listings on Craigslist and saw this you would get excited too. Well, I call the guy “William” and he explained to me that it was a practical joke one of his friends was playing on him. DANG. I was sooo close to getting a free costume. Stupid Craig.
Got some new songs from Stereogum today. New Shearwater, Dodos, Bodies of Water, My Morning Jacket, and Wolf Parade. They all sound pretty good.
I put a small bowl of trail mix near my keyboard. Computer time is now twice as nice.
I received a really nice note from Krista when I got home from work today. I love you.
Wholphin 5 is still awesome.
I had a headache from about 10am to about 10 minutes ago. I hope it is really gone. Geeez, I don’t know why I have been getting long headaches like that that past few months, thankfully they are only once in a while.
If paying bills were brick….
Omar, you are sooo right about Seinfeld bloopers. Amazing. Oh, you didn’t know Omar had his own blog? Well what are you waiting for? Go check it out and bookmark it! RSS it! Omar rules.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 1 is good. We watched the last two seasons, and now we are starting from the beginning since I missed the first couple seasons. Also watching, MASH, Bev Hills 90210, and Rockford Files. We are only a few episodes into MASH. We just watched the season finale of season 1 of Bev Hills. Rockford Files, I think we are in season 3.
Here he is using his super powers! These two picture blogs of him are dedicated to him getting a sweeeet job today!! I don’t have the details really, but I talked to my mom about it and it sounds like he got an amazing internship at a graphic design firm for the summer. He called me earlier, but I was working. I can’t wait to hear from him and get the details.
Here he is sliding down the Golden Gate Bridge!!! My brother is amazing!!!
