Hey Darren!

These two boys in the gym today came up to me and said,

boys: “Hey Darren!”
me: “Darren? I am Brad!”
boys: “You look the singer from that band”
me: “Which band?”
boys: “Ummm. OH System Of A Down!”
me: “Oh haha thanks!”

I have never gotten that one before, ha.
The kids are awesome at this school.

Drums

I am at school right now and we are setting up for this huge dance we are about to have in 40 minutes. The music teacher came in to set up the PA and he asked me to go watch his music class. They were in the music room with all of the band equipment set up. So I introduced myself, and kinda walked around talking to kids about what they play in the band. Then I noticed a drumset. I asked if I could try it out, and I said I had never played drums. They gave me a pair of sticks and I started playing kinda slow, but then starting playing fills and tried to play something cool. The kids were so surprised! One of the boys asked if I teach lessons, and i thought about it after. How fun would that be to teach a kid how to play drums at this age. I started in 7th grade too. I am going to ask the music teacher if they have that room set up after school, and maybe sometimes I can hangout with kids after school and plays drums and talk about music, that would be so fun. Anywho, my break is almost over so I better go. I am eating blueberries. I just wanted to blog about it, because i got so excited.

Hope everyone is having a good Friday!

The Fikes!

Blythe has started a blog! You can check it out here. Do you like tea? So does she. Do you have kids? So does she! Do you have an incredible husband named Kirby? Well, you probably don’t, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go check out their blog and read about The Fike Life.

This is really exciting news. They are some of my most favorite people in the world. Add the blog to your links and welcome them into the blogsphere.

Sunday

This weekend was so great.

Friday night I hung out with Jesse. First we stopped by the Corner Pocket and had a beer. People kept falling out of their chairs. It was weird. The bar was ok, but nothing special. Except they had an old Sears organ that anyone can plug in and play. That I do want to go back and play. It would be fun to bring a tape recorder and record my playing with the bar background noises too. After that we went to this Indian food place across the street. It was AMAZING. I can’t remember the name of what we ate, but the naan and food was incredible. I am really excited about Indian food. I had never had it before, and now I am sad I waited so long.

Saturday, I hung out with my friend Sarah and we walked all around downtown Seattle. Stopped by Linda’s, Galactic Boutique and saw Karl, The SAM Sculpture park, a little rocky beach cove, The Wall of Sound a really great record store that has cassettes for 50 cents each. The afternoon was really fun. Then later that night, Karl, Andrea, and I went out to Capital Hill. I ended up back at Linda’s! Ha. Andrea went to Soul Night at the Lo Fi and Karl and I walked over to Redwood. The night was nice. When we walked over to Lo Fi to meet up with Andrea, I stepped inside and realized that Soul Night was amazing. So next time Karl and I are going to join up with her and go. The music was 50 and 60’s soul music. Great for dancing.

Today Karl and I met up with some friends from Craft Night. We ate at the Wayward Cafe. It was really tasty. They had a bike shack behind the cafe, and this guy Jack was working. It is a Co-Op run cafe and bike shack. I might bring my bike next week to work on it. The lunch was fun. We all shared ideas for future fun nights and drew a little. Then we all went to the Fremont Market to visit Anna and Gwen and walk around the little shops. I love that place. Now I am home and made my first Bento Lunch. Pictures here. Also here are pictures from last weeks Comic & Zine night that I forgot to post. I think I am going to watch 2 Days in Paris tonight.

Hope everyone had a good weekend! It’s what you make it.

Voting

This is just another wonderful example of why I have a hard time voting. I never know who to really vote for 100%. I found this article through digg.com. Here is a link. I came back and edited my entry about this article. I feel more comfortable having you read it and decide for yourself what you think about it. The only thing I will say is that I do not agree with this plan at all.

Stats

This is a copy of the webstats I look at sometimes for my website. I never noticed that I get visitors from outside the USA. I figured maybe a few from England and around there. Matthew and Dale! It is neat to know people from all over read this. Thanks!

A work in progress. I didn’t want to post photos of it until I was done getting things together. But I figure, what fun is that. If most of you lived here you would see it like this anyway. So now you don’t have to fly to see it. I like it. Still have some fun ideas I want to do, but I am feeling good in here. For individual better photos go here.

Do you think anybody else…

Today I woke up at 11:30. Whoops. Sorta. Well, I wanted to wake up a little earlier than that. But I feel okay about it.

Jesse thank you for introducing me to that female vocalist. She is amazing, and the fact that she plays drums and guitar and sings is just too much for me to handle. I think I am in love.

I screened some Partybots shirts today. I think I did a hell of a job too. They are the kid ones with the hot dog image.

I NEED one of these. ASAP. Stylophone

Did you know there is a DIY tractor culture in Poland? Well now you know.

GNIOD FFUTS

DOING STUFF.

Today Karl and I went down in to the town to meet up with Brian and Stephanie. They are friends with Corban, The Pools, Robyn and Jesse, The Pattersons, and those pals. We all went to the Seattle Art Museum. That place is incredible. So much to see. I think we saw most of it today.

Some things I enjoyed at the museum.

1. Albert Bierstadt - Puget Sound On The Pacific Coast. (1870)

2. Josef Masonite - Accordant (1957)

3. Mark Klett - Storm Clouds Over Eastern Idaho (1980)

4. Kane Quaye - Going In Style

car.JPG

5. David Gilhooly - Osiris (1874)

6. Lorenzo Ghiberti’s - The Gates of Paradise (Over 550 years old!) More here. This installation was incredible. I could barely talk the whole time we were in that room. The beauty and awe of being around something with so much historical importance was overwhelming. I am considering a membership at the museum now.

That car, shown above, is a work from Kane Quaye. It is actually a coffin. There is a movement were people make coffins into the shapes that best represent the person who is using it. They even carry the coffin around to the persons favorite places before they put them in the ground. Seems a lot better than a regular box. I will have to come up with a design for my coffin, so I can be buried in some neat homemade shaped thing.

Meeting Brian and Stephanie was great! Thanks Corban!

Tonight I think Karl and I are going out to Capitol Hill. Should be fun. I want to thrift for a small lamp tomorrow.

Comic Night this Tuesday is going to be awesome.
