The new Nada Surf is so good. I am happy they are still making good music, and albums that sound good the whole way through. I don’t know if it is out yet, I got an advance copy, but I am sure it is coming out soon. Mark your calendars.

Waiting

I have been in the free computer area of the La Quinta Hotel for almost an hour and a half waiting for my dad and sister to get here. We are going out to dinner. I got here early on purpose though, because I did not want to get caught in the snow or traffic. I think they are going to be here soon!
Also, work today was good. The drive was kinda covered in “black ice” but I survived. I don’t like that kind of ice. You can barely see it!
Sunday Night Is Alright For Fighting
This weekend turned out to be pretty amazing.
Friday night I opened up a Washington Checking and Savings account. I turned in my paperwork to get started with direct deposit at work.
Then I drove a few hundred feet to Jesse’s house. We hung out for a bit then went to Faire. He was playing a show there. He is Lossy Format. He played great, and I have some photos but I need to find my little adapter thing for my memory card to show them to you. Also Lou-Lou played. Ryan and Sara were really nice. Turns out Sara grew up in the San Fernando Valley. We chatted about places and street names, which was fun. They sounded really great too. Then we went up the street to The Crescent. I tried doing karaoke but the DJ was lame. We were there a long time and he never even called my song or name. Maybe because I didn’t tip him, but who cares. The world will have to wait to hear my version of James Taylor’s ‘Your Smiling Face’. It is not that good, but it is fun.
Then Saturday I went to the Downtown Library for a comic event. They had a workshop for everyone. They had a brief slideshow and I recognized every artist they talked about, which was an encouraging feeling. Then we all made a small comic. The kind that is one sheet of paper folded up nicely to create an 8 page booklet. They collected some of them and copied them to add to the zine library they have. So now, if you go there you can check out one of my zines! That is neat. I want to copy the other ones I have and add them to their collection now. There was also a panel discussion. If my internet was working I would google them names of the people, but the internet is being weird. I will update that info later. The panel talked about internet comics, mainly. I liked it. Then Karl and I saw Pamela for a few minutes when we went to eat yam chips. Then Karl and I came home.
Today I woke up casually, and Karl and I got ready to goto the Frye Museum to see the R. Crumb exhibit. His art was incredible. Although some of his material is a little strong for me. I still like the way he draws, and the fact that they had soo much of his original works dating back to the 50’s. Pen and paper kind of originals. Pretty neat. I like his American Splendor work the best.
So the whole weekend was awesome and totally free.
Karl and I are starting a weekly comic night. Tuesdays will be a comic drawing night and such at our house in West Seattle. We are going to post it on the SeattleDIY site and hope people want to come. I am sure it will turn out to be fun. I am happy about it, because I want to draw more, and make more mini-comics. I believe I have the ability to make them, I just need the discipline.
I watched Zelig yesterday with Karl. I liked it, although it was not my favorite Woody Allen film. I also watched Maxed Out. But I thought it kinda stunk. I didn’t feel very strongly about it. I mean, it wasn’t as bad as a Michael Moore Doc, but it didn’t seem very well put together. I liked Helvetica way better. Even though it was about something totally different, that doesn’t matter. I still liked it better.
I figured out a surf song on my keyboard.
Karl and I are doing the Master Cleanse in February. I am excited to do it again. I am not going to go vegan afterwards, like last time, but I want to seriously eat better afterwards. I have been eating decent up here. With the exception of that cake I made, and a few other things. It is not my fault no one wanted to help me eat the cake. It was FUNFETTI! I thought everyone would be jumping on that chance. I ended up eating almost the whole thing myself in around 4 days. Oh well. It was amazing. It gave me an excuse to have cake for dinner…… and breakfast and lunch.
My Kodak Instamatics look really nice lined up on my window sill. I think there are 18 of them. I found another the other day, but they had it priced too high for my taste. Plus I am spending money only when I have to lately. For example, I did A LOT this weekend. But I only ending up spending around 5 dollars. Part of that was for the bus too. I don’t even have to drive on the weekends, it is fantastic.
Omar and Brenna are visiting next month. I AM HAPPY.
My sister and father will be here tomorrow! We are going out to dinner. They are only here for the day to look at a few colleges that my sister got accepted to. I really hope she goes to the one up here near me. I think being around each other up here would be good for her and our relationship. Plus that would mean more family visits! Scott *cough* Mom ahem.
My room is messy. I blame it on the fact that I do not have anything in here except this simple desk for the computer and a bookshelf from Karl. Which filled up extremely fast. I even stacked some books horizontal. I want to put up some posters in the next couple of days. Also I want to put up my photobooth pictures and somehow display my found photos.
Justin, I know you don’t read my blog, but the comforter you gave me has brought so much joy to my life. I can’t even tell you.
I set out my full collection of the Brockman Light Volume 2 figures. They look amazing.
Of course photos will be coming soon of my room. It is just not much to see right now.
A big thanks to all that sent up some crafts! That was awesome of you guys.
Goodnight.
MLK
Whenever I see those initials I always think the word, “milk”. For the split second I see it written down anywhere around town I think, “MILK? Why do I keep seeing events for milk….oh yeah”. And then I realize it is for Martin Luther.
I am live streaming KEXP through itunes right now. Blur is playing. It is nice to listen to something good in the car and be able to run inside and turn it on the computer as well.
I just returned from a meeting at work. The meeting was great. We discussed business mainly, but also some new changes in the company. For instance, we get paid for every mile we drive and before the reimbursement was 44.5 cents per mile. Well, they just changed it to 50 cents a mile. I start with a new client tomorrow, and his school is 28 miles from my house. This means a 56 mile round trip drive 5 days a week. That adds up to about 560 dollars a month just for gas reimbursement. That makes me really happy. The fact that is it totally tax free money makes me even happier. I think this area appreciates drivers more then back home. Because so many people do not drive their own cars, I think they have neat incentives for us that do. I like it. Also we all get to become a part of the company Costco account. Sweet. Also there is a gym in one of our buildings that we can use whenever we want. I want to try it out.
Nada Surf just came on the radio.
I have been inspired by one of my Flickr friends this past week. Kate does a lot of things. The thing that interests me the most is that she draws a picture of everything that she buys. Even her credit card statements. I have heard of some people doing this daunting task to help motivate them to pay them off. I want to buy a notebook and start drawing the things I buy. Sounds fun. I suppose I would have to draw a notebook first though.
Ok I need to go take care of something.
Happy MILK day

I made something
I completed a mix cd yesterday. It was one of those mixes you make in itunes where you search for a single word and make a mix based on those found songs. Well, I searched a “?” and found some pretty amazing songs. All the song titles end with a question mark. If you would like a copy of this 20 song mix I made, all you have to do is comment to this post. I will send you one at the beginning of the week. Hope all is well with everyone.
Also, if you have made a mix cd recently, why not mail me a copy?
What have you got to lose?
Oh, the photo, well I am not really sure. I felt this photo represented the feel for this post that I was going for.
What a good show. Family Ties. I am going to add that to my Netflix right now.
In honor of the Sycz Family I watched a Jerry Lewis movie last night.
It’s Friday Night!

Pamela and Fen are coming over and we are all having a Twin Peaks Pita Pizza Phun Night. I have been looking forward to this night all week.
I got a flat tire today. Boo.
I bought a plate at Ikea. Yeah. It is the light green one.

Boxing
I had this weird set of dreams last night. One dream I can remember was finding this debit card on the street. I remembered the name when I woke up so I came downstairs to Google it. Ralph Evans (born December 20, 1953) is a former boxer from Great Britain who won the bronze medal in the light flyweight division (– 48 kg) at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany. In the semifinals he was deafeted by Hungary’s eventual gold medalist György Gedó. How weird is that. I found that guy’s debit card in the street. I have never even heard of that guy!! I don’t understand dreams.
I am leaving early for work today for 2 reasons.
1. Possible snow delay on the freeways down in Kent County.
2. As I drove to work yesterday I realized that I work right across from a huge Goodwill and Value Village. Awesome.
I am off to work!
I’m bored
I got my first package in the mail today!

It was from my Mom. She sent me some mail, cookies she baked, a gift from my aunt and uncle, a gift from Maker’s Mark Whiskey, and love. The mail was bills and stuff, the cookies were delicious, the gift was awesome and much needed, and the Maker’s Mark thing is a metal stamper thing to seal envelopes with. It came with red wax you melt into a 1 inch circle and then stamp it closed. I want to try it out.
I worked today. It was good. The bus driver was so rad. I am glad to be working finally. Now, when is payday!!
Karl and I have been computing for a while here. Getting this done and little bit of that done.
Called Omar earlier, he is back from Madrid. His travels back were insane. You would have to ask him, but seriously sounds like it was crazy coming home for his family.
He showed me this. And now I want one really bad. But we both decided we would try and make our own. Maybe I will try tomorrow. I did just get some new colors of felt today. I got a real nice 70’s shade of orange and green. Both wool.
I have been using this almost everday. I like it.
I want some of this. I want to transform my belongings into plastic covered things.
I am going upstairs.
Saturday
I am enjoying all of this talk from friends back home about how rainy it is and how crazy everything with the rain is.
It is kinda like you are all up here with me. Sorta. Except you if you hate the rain there, you would not like it here. Except Seattle’s rain is richer and more pure.
Karl and I made a huge batch of Bachelor Chow.Made some things today. Going to start my Etsy site this week.
Now, time for some funfetti cake.
Feel Great 2008
A few things I am excited about checking out this year.
Visiting the IPRC in Portland while I am down there for the fest.
Finding out more about the Church of Craft.
There are a lot of other things I am excited about this year. Living in Seattle and finding out about all the great events, shows, and other things that happen year round. It seems to me that the going-ons up here are of much more interest to me than the going-ons down in LA. The craftyness, zineness, musicness, and partyness is much stronger up here. I want to become a part of it all and learn more this year. I want to become a craft wizard. Make more zines. Maybe even a comic. Start a band. The hobbies I enjoy are everywhere up here. I have met so many great people already. People that make things and do things. It has been inspiring.
I start my new job tomorrow. I am a Youth Behavior Specialist. I will be working in Kent County Schools. I am really excited about starting. One neat thing about this job, is that I get 3 weeks paid vacation time a year! Travel Travel Travel. Plus, I enjoy working with kids and I am excited to get involved within the schools and help some kids out.
I am starting a picture a day set on my Flickr. I will be taking a picture of myself a day this year. Maybe not of myself everyday, but at least something related to me or something I am doing that day.
Also, I turned an application in to the Cancer Society Thrift Store around the corner from my house. I want to volunteer there. Every time I go in, there are really nice older ladies working. Hopefully they will contact me for some work.
Well, I am going upstairs for food.
What is everyone else excited about this year!? Comment me.
